Food is powerful medicine. What we feed ourselves directly determines so many aspects of the body’s function, from weight and body composition to mood.
What we leave out of the diet is often as impactful as what we include. Fine-tuning and adjustment of nutrition can lead to profound changes in health. We can make these changes to support healthy bodies while still saving room for celebration and enjoyment.
Food can make us feel good in so many ways, and it is vital to honor all of them. We eat because we need nutrients to fuel the body and mind, but we also eat because it’s one of life’s pleasures. The fullest expression of wellness occurs when we feel great on all levels: physical, mental, and emotional.
In my work with patients and clients, I use nutrition as a clinical tool to promote healing and achievement of health goals. It is my priority not only to enhance wellness, but also to promote much-needed pleasure and satisfaction in eating. I enjoy helping others to discover the best nutritional balance to foster optimal health and vitality, all the while cultivating a positive, joyful relationship with food.
Our Approach
I practice a holistic and integrative approach to health. In our sessions together, we will explore not only the fundamentals of optimal nutrition, but also multiple other aspects of lifestyle that intersect with our nutritional habits, including sleep, physical activity, emotional health, and stress management. By uncovering and investigating the often-hidden influences in our lives that impact eating, we can identify ways to build the strong pillars of support necessary for the achievement of our nutrition-related goals.
Many of us experience emotional trauma along our journeys with food. In our society and our upbringing, we often hear judgmental voices that we internalize, leading us to feel shame about our eating habits, our bodies, or both. My practice is a safe, supportive space in which to air these experiences so that we may heal and move forward toward a positive relationship with food, utilizing techniques drawn from mindfulness, self-compassion, and intuitive eating.
